Simmetrix Inc. Releases Simulation Modeling Suite 5.4

CLIFTON PARK, NY, April 13, 2005 -- Simmetrix Inc., the leading provider of component software for simulation-based design and CAD/CAE integration, today announced the release of version 5.4 of the Simulation Modeling Suite. The CAD/CAE market has exhibited an increasing demand for simulation to validate performance early and often in the design process. Simmetrix understands this demand and has responded with its newest version of the Simulation Modeling Suite.

Simulation Modeling Suite 5.4 provides a very high level representation of analysis model through the use of abstract classes. An analysis problem can be defined in terms of these higher level Classes. The analysis definition is applied to these Classes and automatically mapped to the current design instance, allowing for design invariant definition of the analysis problem. Simulation Modeling 5.4 also adds the ability to produce run-ready formatted data through the use of XML based “pattern” files.

“We are very excited to announce the release of Simulation Modeling Suite 5.4 with the introduction of Abstract Classes and ModelSim Export”, said Joe Walsh, Vice President of Business Development at Simmetrix. “The addition of these capabilities along with the enhancements to geometry access and mesh generation continue to provide our licensees with the best tools possible to meet the increasing challenges of simulation modeling.”

The following highlights some of the enhanced capabilities offered by Simulation Modeling Suite 5.4:

ModelSim Enhancements

  • Enhanced performance for attribute Cases
  • Added the ability to put multiple abstract Components into abstract Classes (ModelSim Concept)
  • Extended attribute management to work with the abstract Classes (ModelSim Concept)
  • Extended attribute inheritance to include abstract Classes to abstract Components to current GeomSim model
  • Released ModelSim Export module to provide the ability to export data from Simulation Modeling Suite as run-ready data

MeshSim Enhancements

  • Added the ability to curve a mixed element mesh
  • Added the ability to find set of mesh faces within specified distance to a point and compute distance from point to mesh face
  • Added the ability Smooth and Optimize a volume mesh for various criteria

pMeshSIm Adapt Released

  • Provides the ability for parallel mesh adaptivity

GeomSim Enhancements

  • Added the ability to retrieve the volume of a region, and the units of the model
  • Added the functionality to set/retrieve/remove attributes natively on the geometric model for assemblies/parts/regions/faces/edges/vertices
  • Added the ability to specify file format (text or binary) and tolerance for ACIS files
  • Added the ability to specify the file format (text or binary) for a Parasolid files
  • Added the ability to split disjointed faces for a Pro/ENGINEER model
